Ah, my monthly blog posting. Scott has informed me that we're going to start losing readership, and apparently it's all about the readership. So to both of our readers, enjoy!
We had a fabulous Christmas, complete with Farkle, naps, and ridiculously amazing Norwegian dinner. New Years was a success--we played games, ate more awesome food, and managed to stay up until midnight! Which is a big deal for a couple of old married people.
As we kick off 2011, I think an appropriate theme for our year would be "Learning New Stuff." Stuff we will be learning:
Scott
Economics, accounting, managing, finances, organizational behaviors, all sorts of boring, er, exciting stuff. He just got into the Professional MBA program at the University of Utah! It will be about 10 hours a week in class, on top of his 40 hours of work, on top of his busy church calling, on top of 16+ hours of homework, on top of hours of commuting. I know, I'm tired just reading that. It's going to be a pretty intense couple of years, but it'll pay off. I'm super proud of him.
Jessica
Zumba, Spanish, guitar. That's right, that rookie little white girl posting about her first Zumba class several months ago is about to become an instructor! Patti, my Zumba instructor, approached me last month about teaching, and I decided to go for it. This last month has been full of a LOT of practice and learning choreography, but I'm pretty stoked to get started! And the Spanish is in hopes of being able to actually communicate with my class. As for the last item, I told Scott a couple of months ago that I wanted a hobby for Christmas--something to fill my time while he was at class late and Ellie was asleep and I was all alone; so he bought me a guitar! Fun, huh?
Ellie
Singing, playdoughing, snacking, sharing, sitting quietly for 2 minutes. That's right, our little girl just started nursery! She loves it. Not that she's made it through 2 hours by herself yet, but she loves hanging out with other little people. She's also busy trying to meet her New Year's resolution to gain weight. She's only 20 lbs, which is skinny skinny for her height and age. Luckily, whole milk is pretty much her favorite thing ever. She's been drinking more than a quart of whole milk every day! Man, we need to buy a cow.
Here's hoping we learn lots of new stuff this year!

1. awesome on Scott doing MBA program... will be huge time managements, but it will all works out. I remember several years ago when the kids were tiny and Joe was going to school full time and working full time (graveyard shift).... he was tired, I was tired and we didn't see much of each other. But it worked out.
2. WTG Miss Gringo Zumba teacher. That's pretty cool! If you forget some Spanish, just start yelling out the Taco Bell menu, "Burrito," 'Chalupa," " Bell Grande!" Just don't say the last one about anyone's butt in your class.
Guitar... love that you are taking up a new hobby. That is the only way I survive in life, is taking on new projects. The guitar sounds like it will be fun. Let me know when you learn how to play "Hey there Delilah."
3.Ellie... cute, cute. She is built just like my Charlise was at around that age. Charlise was 18lbs. at 16months ( I had to go look it up!) Now who knows how much she weighs! Alot! Throw some chocolate in that milk every once in awhile. ;-) Does she like avocados?
LOL, you crack me up Jeralee! Come to think of it, most of the Spanish I know IS food-related. I'll remember that next time I freeze up in class. ;) And yes, Ellie does like avocado! I should get some more.
I think you have more than 2 readers...just sayin'. ;)
That's cool that you're going to learn the guitar...makes me want to play again...and become better at it. I can't believe Ellie is in nursery!! I want to move into your ward and play with her...
If you taught Zumba up here I would TOTALLY come to it! Such fun. I can't wait to hear about your class.
Also, congrats to Scott on the MBA program! (And good luck to you....)
Sweet.
You go girl! I LOVE that you are teaching now, totally can see you up there, leading the class, motivating them with the occasional finger bite . . . ;) Way to Scottie and little El also! Look at you all and your mad goal setting! Happy New Year!
